Iconic father-son/daughter reel life duo
There is a great saying that a person truly knows his father when he becomes one’. A father is someone who leaves no stone unturned to secure a better life for his child. We all know that a few paragraphs are too petite to express the greatness of a father yet I decided to jot down some Iconic father-son/daughter reel-life duo.
After musing on for a while, ‘An iconic reel life duo of father and son/daughter’ sounded nice to write about. So let’s plunge into it as there are innumerable duos to look up to however we had better stick to a couple of them. With assuming your unanimity let’s talk about ‘Phogat family’ from ‘Dangal’ movie and ‘Grimes’ from ‘The walking dead’.
Phogat family from ‘Dangal’:
First comes first the Phogat family, Mahavir Singh Phogat (played by Aamir Khan) a former wrestler and a national champion decides to fulfill his long due dream of winning a gold medal for India through his daughters. In doing so he faces animosity from villagers and family members but doesn’t crumble and stays the course. Even he’s to persuade his wife to force their daughters into wrestling. Geeta and Babita Phogat his two daughters (played by Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra respectively) were initially loath to wrestle.
However Mahavir coerce them with his gruelling techniques and methods especially morning exercise and cutting their hair short and for once it seems that he’s ruining their childhood. Both the daughters develope resentment for their father but with passing days they realise that he’s doing nothing but securing a glorious future for them. They find vigor and enthusiasm for wrestling and go onto winning many local tournaments throughout the state. Which motivates their father and he starts to look at his dream as Geeta Phogat wins all national championships. Consequently she moves to national academy for further training in order to play at international level where she learns ‘Anti-Mahavir’ techniques and derails from her father’s path.
Thereby she loses a few international matches and puts herself into despair. Even relation between her and father becomes acrimonious. Onwards Babita also wins national championship and paves her way to the national academy where she ties up with sister. During their stay there they talk about Geeta’s problems and Babita mediates between her father and sister to put their relation on track. As Commonwealth games are imminent Gita finds troubles at academy with the head coach who tries to put her off. Then Mahavir Singh comes to rescue and traines her to the best.
With all the efforts and motivation from family she wins a gold medal at her maiden Commonwealth games and fulfills her father’s dream. Babita, mahavir’s another daughter also wins a silver in the same tournament. Both daughters then go onto winning a series of medals in coming years. Finally Mahavir Singh gets his dream fulfilled, finally all his labour and patience pay off. This story tells us that whatever may it look to you a father always works for the best of his child. He may seem cruel, dominating, officious but he always looks after our betterment.
Grimes from ‘The walking dead’:
Now we talk about ‘Rick Grimes’ and ‘Carl Grimes’ (played by Andrew Lincoln and Chandler Riggs) an iconic father son duo from ‘The Walking Dead’. Probably the bravest father and son duo in reel life. It’s a story of survival where the moment you stop being brave you die. It’s a story of the world being pushed to its end where only strong can live. So Rick Grimes a former Sheriff’s deputy teaches his son an art of fighting and surviving at very early age and forges him into one of the deadliest adolescents you’ll come across ever. When the calamity brokes out in the world and people turn into walking deads Rick finds himself in a hospital alone, unaware of the situation and left to die.
Somehow he recovers and starts looking for his family. With the help of some likewise survivors he finally meets them. From onwards they stay together to the end and tackles every catastrophe with valour. Talking of the relationship between father and son they have a strong mutual understanding and they are always ready to fight, and save each other at any cost. However sometimes they find themselves on opposite ends but end up getting at the same.
Though fictional and unlikely to happen anyhow, it still teaches us how a father and a son are ought to look after and strengthen each other. And always stay together no matter what happens.
So these two are iconic father-son/daughter reel-life duo which inspire us and show us a way to ameliorate, and maintain our relations.
