Bollywood has evolved within time and now even actresses are said to be heroes of the movie leading in the film. The term feminism is now showcased on the big screen too. Real stories of women who made us shattered are also been filmed in our Bollywood. Bollywood is now focusing on the real life movies than the romantic comedy. Movies are a great source of media, so such type of movies makes all of us aware of the situations what we are blindly going through and by the movies we somewhere accept the thoughts of freedom and respect for a woman. Here are some women centric movies till now which were extremely outstanding!

Meghna Gulzar’s Raazi, where Alia bhatt playing role of Sehmat who is married to a Pakistani officer by her father so that she can get some valuable piece of information. The critically acclaimed spy thriller is reportedly based on a true story. The film is mainly an adaptation of Harinder Sikka’s 2008 novel titled ‘Calling Sehmat’. The movie has brilliantly showcased the central theme of love for the country. Here we see a woman leaving her country marrying someone from another country just to share information and help her mother india sacrificing her life at risk of death shows how courage can a woman have .


Kahaani,a movie full of suspense. Vidya Balan playing Vidya Bagchi, a pregnant woman, travels to Kolkata from London to search for her missing husband. When all clues lead to a dead end, she realises that there is more than what meets the eye. Seven months pregnant and alone in a festive city, she begins a relentless search for her husband. With nothing to rely on except fragments from her memories about him, all clues seem to reach a dead end when everyone tries to convince Vidya that her husband does not exist. She slowly realizes that nothing is what it seems. In a city soaked in lies, Vidya is determined to unravel the truth about her husband – for herself and her unborn child – even at the cost her own life.


Anushka sharma produced this movie as she handled the script on screen as well. And with this movie, we loved Anushka Sharma even more! In the movie, her husband is killed by the local gangster family. She survived and killed the family who killed her husband played by Neil Bhoopalan. A woman can turn the tables when it comes to gaining justice and taking revenge. This movie show how a simple woman can turn into a real hero.


The story was inspired by the Jessica Lal case. Rani Mukherjee played the journalist who helped Vidya out and we couldn’t get enough of Rani’s character. There is no scope to look at anyone else except these two gorgeous women! In this movie, girl named Jessica is killed by group of boys and with the money power tries to drop the case. But these brave ladies wins the case Jessica gets justice.


How important is it to understand about women menstrual health? Our society feels shameful of even talking about it, understanding the importance is miles away. A woman bleeds for 4-5 days and her health should not be ignored. In rural areas, this issue is at high bar. In this film, based on the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a Tamil Nadu-based social activist who revolutionized the concept of menstrual hygiene in rural India by creating a low-cost sanitary napkin machine. Pad Man was envisioned to be an awareness film without focusing on commercial aspects. Woman are said to be weaker, where as a woman gives birth to a child and also faces Menstruation every month.


Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Chhapaak. This film is based on the life and triumph of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. It narrates how she faces society after her ordeal and ultimately accepts life and herself, fighting for the ban on the sale of acid. Deepika Padukone played the role of Malti, the protagonist. Indian society by such movies get awareness about the injustice and crimes happening around them and realizes that fighting back is the only solution and need for themselves and the country. A woman’s beauty lies in her soul and it doesn’t matter if her skin gets destroyed but no one has the right to do such attacks and satisfy men ego.


Sonam kapoor, won a national award for this film. Neerja Bhanot’s biopic was acclaimed by the critics and the audience alike. There are many heartwarming scenes and we can’t imagine anyone else as Neerja. You could connect, smile, and cry only because Sonam Kapoor did justice to the character. Being an air hostess or at any other profession, a woman carries humanity within her. She saved lives and sacrificed her own. Salute to her Selflessness.


Padmavat, by Sanjay Leela Bhansali is focused upon Queen Padmavati who was happily married to a Rajput ruler until a tyrant Sultan, Alauddin Khilji, entered their life and called a war on their kingdom due to his obsession with the queen’s beauty which he had never seen. Queen Padmavati, with all the ladies committed sati, where the walk into the fire and, sacrificed her life but did not let Sultan’s wish fulfill. A woman can be unpredictable and one would just keep wondering her strength.


‘No means No’ is what this movie is about,where if a woman don’t want to get physically involved with a man, though it’s her husband that should not happen. The choice is important. In this movie, after being molested, Minal played by Tapsee panno, along with her friends, tries to file an FIR against a politician’s nephew. When the subsequent case gets rigged, Deepak played by Amitabh Bacchann, a retired lawyer, helps them to fight the case. In India there are daily thousands of cases happening about molestation, and a woman is still fighting for the freedom which India has got 74 years before.


A mom, who is on 24 hours shift of being a house wife has all right of being respected and to live her life. In this movie, Sri devi playing a housewife and caterer, Shashi, is usually mocked by her family for not knowing English. Her attempt to learn the language helps her rediscover herself and reassert her value as a mother and a wife. This wonderful movie surely has proven that ” Maa sab kar sakti hai” She is the real hero of all times.

Forming groups in a school , is one of the most important part of a school life. Thus, the story actually revolved around a haunted house, but a major part of the film depicted the school life. Bhootnath is one of the most loving haunted movie.

Taare Zameen Par – Taare zameen par has a special place in everyone’s heart. This movie has created the history. Aamir Khan’s performance was outstanding. The movie delivers an important message – that every child is special to normalising a disorder like “Dyslexia” . This movie is full of emotions, and the character of Ishaan played by Darsheel Safary was phenomenal!

Chhalaang – Chhalaang allows us to relive memories from one of the most loved classes from our school i.e Pt period. In this movie, Rajkumar Rao portrays the character of a Pt teacher. This movie is really amazing, and the performance of Rajkumar is beyond outstanding. Chhalaang hits the blockbuster in the OTT platform.

Hichki – Hichki revolves around the story of a teacher played by Rani Mukherjee, with tourette syndrome, undoubtedly this movie teaches us many lessons – like how one can turn the weakness into the biggest strength. This movie is extremely beautiful and endearing to everyone. Hichki movie depicts many memories related to school life, where one can totally get lost in the nostalgia of school days.

Recently, in diwali times “Riteish ” has set an example for all of us. Riteish Deshmukh recycled his mother old saree and make new outfits for him and his two sons!! Since, the day he posted the video in social media, people has been praising him enormously. Riteish has celebrated diwali in unique way, instead of buying new clothes, the actor recycled his mother’s old saree to make kurtas. Really, Riteish made a statement in this diwali. Recycling old sarees is not just the only thing, but old sarees passed on from generation to generation.
