EDUCATIONAL CRITICS OF TODAY.

Published

on

For more than a year, we’ve been dwelling around uncharted waters of COVID situation overall the World. 5 years ago, every interviewer who asked the question to the applicant that where do you see yourself after 5 years, might’ve got wrong answers. Previous year was all about how expectations lead to destruction and constant subsiding of plans.

We agree that to take up the reins of all the people was surely a tough task for the government and it’s representatives. We’ve been ferocious for the past time and faced mishaps like the thunder but it’s miserable to see the same situation prevailing again due to carelessness of people and lack of self awareness. If you think you can hide from a virus and get off with it, you are digging your own grave.

We see ‘morons’ of two kinds in this scenario; the ones who have experienced many covid cases in their family and have gotten very nonchalant about taking care and other ones who fortunately didn’t get their family members hospitalised due to covid but may be are waiting for that thing to happen.

Let’s assume there’s no such thing like the coronavirus, it’s just a made up mind-set. But things like Viral infection, respiratory problems, dengue, or infectious diseases etc,. They are prevalent right? Why don’t we take care of ourselves in a way to be safeguarded from mere infectious diseases? I understand, sometimes happenings are unintentional, but why are our actions on them not rational? We are suffering due to irresponsible citizens of our society, and individuals are suffering due to their own actions.

Moving further, in India I’ve never seen a single decision or announcement that didn’t have any arguments. Every decision or announcement ever made had a war of words but a few days ago the decision of not conducting or postponing exams had a very smooth flow throughout multimedia. A silent proclamation thanking the government and saying, “this is all that we wanted.”

Behind this decision there are various types of students ranging from those who were studying all day long for boards to those who didn’t get enough equipment to study. Here again fall two types of the students’ i.e Rich and poor or those with equipment but no willingness to study and other types without equipment but willingness to study.

The decision announced by the Education ministry was amazement. A treat for those who didn’t bother about studying and on the flip side a disappointment for those students who struggled hard to get through formulas and concepts and solved huge question sets. Everyone has different perceptions towards this but the thing that still surprises me is no one is against this decision. Why?

A huge group of people countrywide blames the education system for relevant reasons. In the beginning of 2020, we got the wind of the implementation of new Education policy that ignited glimmers of hope in us but, it has gotten behind the bars for a long time amidst COVID situations.

Lesson 101, Remember- DO NOT BLAME EDUCATION SYSTEM BECAUSE YOU CANNOT SCORE ENOUGH.

I am not making any conclusions about which type of education system is right or wrong but mental ageism is pervasive in our society. Mainly dogmatism, when one group says, “Present education system is bad” with their own reasons, another group with blindfolded eyes, agrees with them with their set of beliefs and this is how we see dogmatism settles its roots.

If the education system is bad, what stops you from studying/ doing what you love? What pulls you back to prove yourself? Why are we all dependent on the government to announce their decisions that are unacceptable at first place but we all follow it like blind herd of sheep?

Lesson 102, Remember- WE ARE GOVERNED BY THE TYPE OF GOVERNMENT WE DESERVE.

If I unite the world’s voice together, the truth is unless and until Coronavirus doesn’t get diminished completely, there would be no stability in the education sector or any other. In such circumstances, our foremost duty is to educate us by ourselves. COVID has indulged us much into how to make use of technology, gadgets, and how to make precise use of the internet. Problem is our inability to use it. And that inability is different at every level.

Lesson 103, Remember- BE THE MASTER OF THE CHANGE NOT A VICTIM OF THE CHANGE.

Regardless of COVID, if we take a deeper look and compare all the students countrywide, not everyone has a smartphone or proper guidance. I preach to the student protestors who had the banners stating “Shiksha online toh Pariksha offline kyu?” When you’ve a relevant question, you must also have an answer to it. If exams are supposed to be conducted online without cheating why don’t we build certain websites for that? You cheat once or twice but…. Lesson 104, Remember- A CHEAT ALWAYS REMAINS A CHEATER.

If the health of students is a major concern for the government, why don’t they settle new ways of conducting fair exams? Are we gonna have the same uncertainties in the education sector for the future? It’s not only the government who could do that but any intellectual person.

Such a huge pandemic that lasts for more than a year would leave back it’s impact for more than two times of it’s suffering.

Lesson 105, Remember- AWAKE AND REALISE, OR STAY BLINDFOLDED AND PERISH AS THIS IS THE RACE OF SURVIVAL OF FITTEST.

HIDDEN FIGURES OF THE SCIENCE WORLD

Published

on

THESE FIGURES WERE THE FIRST
-TO classify the stars based on their temperature
-TO discover rapidly rotating neutron star  – (not first) but to work as a ‘computer’ in NASA
And many more major things ….
Ok now let’s come down to the basic things these figures invented
-ICE CREAM MAKER
-AQUARIUM
-DISHWASHER
And the list goes on…
You may wonder who are these people. Maybe some of you might know about them. Before we processed, I want to share something with you

So, when I was in 10th grade my classmate asked a question. The question was “there are lots of topper girls in the school or around the world more than men but why in the scientific history we see and
learned only about the men who discovered or invented stuff?” this question triggers me and made us believe that its true and at that time I couldn’t answer him but now I know the correct answer to this question.

THE LIST YOU READ ABOVE WAS ALL
DISCOVERED OR INVENTED BY WOMEN.

1.ANNIE JUMP CANNON

Annie Jump Cannon was born on
December 11, 1863. she was the eldest of three daughters born to Wilson cannon. she became a member of Harvard computers a group of women hired by Harvard Observatory director Edward C Pickering to complete the Hendry draper catalogue, with the goal of mapping and defining every star in the sky to a photographic magnitude of about 9. Not long after work began on the Draper Catalogue, a disagreement developed as to how to classify the stars. cannon started by examining the bright southern hemisphere stars. After absorption lines were understood in terms of stellar temperatures, her initial classification system was rearranged to avoid having to update star catalogues. she published her first catalogue of stellar spectra in 1901. In 1914, she was admitted as an honorary member of the Royal astronomical society.

2.KATHERINE JOHNSON

KATHERINE JOHNSON was born on august 26 1918, was an American mathematician and a NASA employee. In the 1950s, there were no computers like we have today. People had to solve hard math problems by themselves. They often used to add machines and rulers. These people were called “computers.” The NACA (NASA) hired women to work as computer.

Early in her career, she was called a “computer. “her work was mainly to calculated trajectories, launch windows and emergency return paths. Johnson
and the other African-American women in the computing pool were required to work, eat, and use restrooms that were separate from those of their white peers. Their office was labelled as “Coloured Computers”. depict being discriminated. This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY-SA based on colour and being African women, she chooses to ignore and became the women who helped NASA to put first astronaut into orbit around Earth and helped to put man on Moon.
President Barack Obama presented her with Presidential Medal of Freedom, one of 17 Americans so honoured on November 24, 2015. And many more awards.

Not only American but there were INDIAN gems too like
-ASIMA CHATTERJEE

Was first Indian female to earn
doctorate degree and was successful organic chemist of her time. She successfully developed anti-epileptic and anti-malarial drugs. Another outstanding contribution to the world of chemistry was her work on vinca alkaloids which
belong to Madagascar periwinkle plants. They are used in chemotherapy to help slow down the cancer cells from multiplying.

JANKI AMMAL

Was a renowned botanist and plant
cytologist who made significant contributions to genetics, evolution, phytogeography and ethnobotany.  She also worked on the cytogenetics of a range of plants and co-authored the chromosome atlas of cultivated plants. She was
awarded by Padma shri in 1977.

THE FIELD OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY HAD BEEN AN
OVERLY MALE DOMINATED AREA SINCE TIME IMMEMORIAL.
80s, 90s era was tough for women around the world. In those time females were considered as ‘delicate’ or we can say untaught. Only few of them were given freedom to think out of box. But a strong will and determination will never let a person to sit at one place let go their dreams, and so did the
all the women who are now remembered by everyone.

“SCIENCE IS A STREAM WHICH WILL NEVER LET PEOPLE STOP DREAMINGAND NOW IN TH RACE WOMEN ARE ALSO EQUIVALENT TO THE MEN”

We are passing by the days where we are witnessing something similar to black death we learnt in history classes. From the young to the old , from the bright to dark , from the privileged to unprivileged are suffering. Amidst this if noticed we can also witness the hype given towards some unnecessary subject matter. Where everyday we wake up with a panic of being affected by the pandemic, in daily newspapers what we wish to read is ,how nation is supporting nation , how man giving a hand to another and helping each other to breathe out. Instead of this what we get to is about subject matters such as Indian Premier League for which crores are spent just for the purpose of entertainment.

Where people are choosing self restrictions it’s not entertainment that we need. It’s oxygen and hospital beds that we need. It’s the solution to overcome this phase is what we need. Because coming days we are going to witness a huge population suffering. Infact the truth is it will be mostly the unprivileged and not the privileged ones who are on their vaccay in Maldives. Today 25/04/2021 surprisingly I found out this and made me think . A daily newspaper ‘ The new Indian Express’ have stepped forward reacting to this trend which deserves a great appreciation. Today where medias run after anything and everything highlighted by money and power ,this truly needs courage. Here is to the ones who say how much IPL contributes to indian economy. It’s not a hidden fact that IPL is an amalgamation of rich and rich. As they say “the problem is not with the game but it’s timing”. Let’s focus on what need to be focused and not on what is shown to be focused. Let’s face this phase together.
